Ninja Warrior Competition is BACK – Getting Results in 2023

Ninja Warrior competition is back in 2023!

The Compound Ninja monthly competition series has officially begun. The first of 7 rounds took place over the weekend and some of Melbourne’s best Rookie, Regular and Elite Ninja Warriors showed up to battle for top spots on the podium.

March’s competition round is the official ‘bar-setter’. This is where the Compound’s master course designer gets a good idea of what level everyone is at and determine how gruelling future rounds will get. The concept is to make each course – suited to the varying fitness, strength and experience levels – difficult enough to be challenging and perhaps barely achievable but at the same time, with regular training, completely within reach.

What's in the Ninja Warrior courses for 2023?

Competitors at the weekends’ event would most likely agree, the 3 course levels did just that. The rookie course, for those new to Ninja Warrior competition, was at a level that made for good, fun and exciting competition while proving a heart-racing challenge.

Rookies started off with a few balance beams and quintuple steps. Then 3 rising steps led Rookies across the ‘water’ on a rope swing and then onto a rope traverse. Next a line of rings and grips to swing through followed by the Spider Wall, over to the lache alley and up the middle height Warped Wall.

For the Ninja and the Ninja Elite categories, courses were somewhat similar. Both of Ninja the courses starting with the slackline, grip alley and swinging cliffhanger. Then slight variations of the rope to cliffhanger followed by, with much dissatisfaction, a run across the mats to the Spider Wall. The Spider Wall this time included a small under/over with a couple of mats wedged in to make the spider wall a bit more challenging. Another variation of the salmon ladder, Warped Wall. For Ninjas completing all of that, the bonus obstacle was a wheel with ring hopper for Ninjas and nunchuck looking spikes for the Elite.

Basically, a bucket load of grip strength needed for each course as well as a generous serving of cardio.

Compound Ninja Warrior Results, March 2023

With Ninja Warrior courses really well pieced together, competition was fierce. Feeding off and cheering on each other’s efforts, not one person failed miserably. The mutual support is easily one of the best things about the adult Ninja Competitions at the Compound.
